Varsity Squash

Squash is a competitive sport where two players hit the squash ball against the front wall, and the players try and hit the ball so their opponent cannot hit it. Like every other sport, there are many other rules to the game, but it is just handball with racquets. There are nine people on varsity squash varying in skill level—some who have been playing for over 4 years and some who have just started a year ago. The skill difference has not stopped us from playing well with each other. Even if we lose every point to Knox Vitrano on most days, the Varsity squash team still is energetic in every practice. Every day, we start off with conditioning, which usually means ladders and occasionally races against each other. The races are always very competitive, as the loser has to do punishments. Then we do drills, which vary from day to day. We also practice our serves, our technique, and our footwork. To end off the day we play on the court. Our varsity team has already played 7 matches this season; we have not been defeated yet. This year our team is looking very strong and prominent as we destroyed our opponents ruthlessly in our matches.
This year’s varsity squash team consists of our coaches, Mr. Drew Parsons ‘16, and Mr. Trimbach-Rios. Our team also includes the players: Knox Vitrano ’24, Eric Hsu ’25, Chenglai Fu ’24, Yuxuan Zhang ’25, Tony Zhu ’25, Benjamin Liu ’24, Zhehan Li ’25, Sebastian Woo ’24, and William Frith ’25.
