Flying drones can be a fun hobby. Imagine flying a drone over campus taking a view from a whole new angle. However, with this great hobby comes a great responsibility, that being flying a drone safely around campus. Getting a drone certified to fly around Eaglebrook’s campus is simple. To begin the process of getting your drone approved, you must first complete the UAS safety test (TRUST), and select an Academy of Model Aeronautics from a list of FAA approved test administrators. You also have to register your drone to the FAA which costs a whopping five bucks. After completing these steps, you can go provide a copy of the FAA registration certificate and TRUST certificate, and send it to security. Security should then go over with you about the drone flying over campus policies, and it will also be stored at the Security Office. After this long but worth it process, you will be able to enjoy the thrill of flying a drone over Eaglebrook’s beautiful 850-acre campus.
